Monitor Farm - Introduction

The Agricultural and Horticultural Development Board (AHDB) run a Monitor Farm programme for various sectors. I have been involved in the Herefordshire Monitor Farm for cereals and oilseeds over the last few years, gaining great insight from looking into other local businesses as well as our own. (For more information about the programme, click here: https://ahdb.org.uk/farm-excellence/hereford2020)

For 2021, I was asked to be one of the monitor farmers along with three others from Herefordshire, hosting the AHDB monitor farm programme - Jack Hopkins (@jacklowerhope) Adam Lewis (@AdamMLewis1) and Martin Carr (@farmercarr_)

Our Monitor Farm journey didn't quite get off to the start planned, much like everything in 2020, the current covid situation has meant that we have had to postpone any meetings until Autumn 2021.

We are however continuing to run some trials on farm with blended wheat varieties - more information about that can be found here: https://ahdb.org.uk/news/could-blending-wheat-varieties-help-reduce-risk-on-your-farm

We are hoping that we can share our results when covid allows!

Cheers, Rob.
