Winter 2022 Update. New Year, New Opportunities

It's been a remarkably dry and kind winter. Although as I write this storm Eunice is blowing a gale outside! Crops are looking fantastic as we come come into spring and it seems like there is real yield potential, so fingers crossed it's a good growing season.

The winter wheat four way blend has come racing out of the traps. Planted with the Mzuri into perfect conditions following spring beans.

We have also grown oilseed rape again this year after a 12 month break. This time we have planted it with a companion crop to help control pests and fix some free atmospheric nitrogen. At £650/t for bagged fertiliser this should be a good investment.

Other News

Last August I also took on the role of agronomist with Edaphos www.edaphos.co.uk who I have been working with as we started our journey into regenerative farming practices. I will now be working 2 days a week helping clients navigate their own path to more sustainable and profitable farming techniques. This is a really exciting development and it's great to be working with such a knowledgeable and forward thinking agronomy team.

Finally

We are all really looking forward to the up coming spring. There are some interesting developments taking place on the farm this season which, we will update you on later in the year. If you have any questions or would like to find out more about what we are doing and what services we can offer to help your business progress please get in touch. Here's to a successful and profitable spring and summer! Rob
